SSL/TLS protocols renegotiation vulnerability (Lightstreamer is safe)

Very recently, a new vulnerability in the SSL and TLS protocols was discovered, which may allow attackers to execute an arbitrary HTTP transaction. It seems that many SSL/TLS libraries will need to be patched in order to prevent such vulnerability.

A global update on the issue is available from CERT.

We have checked the Lightstreamer Server code and we can confirm that Lightstreamer is not affected by this vulnerability.

JQuery Grid (jqGrid) Demo

We have released a very simple demo showing how to integrate Lightstreamer with JQuery Grid Plugin. jqGrid is a nice widget with many advanced features for creating and managing tables.

The integration is straightforward, based on a few lines of JavaScript code that act as a bridge between Lightstreamer and jqGrid.

Concrete Comet Examples

A new article, "Concrete Comet Examples", was published on Comet Daily, featuring some Lightstreamer widgets running live within the page.

The article summarizes and demonstrates three typical applications of the Comet paradigm: financial market data distribution, chats, and monitor consoles.

Ozone Browser

I just tested version 0.9 of Ozone, a new browser for Symbian phones.

It is based on the WebKit engine and seems to be very fast and compliant to standards.

Lightstreamer Web Client works great on Ozone :-)

Mozilla Prism and Lightstreamer

With Mozilla Prism you can package a web application as a desktop application. You can launch it from a desktop icon and have a browser process dedicated to the application, so that it runs in full isolation.

GroovyDB Uses Lightstreamer for Web Push

GroovyDB is an appliance made by GroovyChannel that provides "SQL Virtualization" technology. It will be offered as a hosted "Cloud" service too.

They recently added Web Push capabilities, so that any changes to the data are reflected in real time through a Web front-end. The Comet Server used by GroovyDB is Lightstreamer.

Their site hosts a live demo of news pushed in real-time from the GroovyDB.

The Lightstreamer Adapter code they developed is available for download.

Adobe AIR Example

The Adobe AIR version of the Flex Stock-List Demo for Lightstreamer is now available.

Silverlight Beta-Test Program for Lightstreamer

A beta version of a Silverlight client library for Lightstreamer has been released today.
It is generally available, as part of a public beta-test program open to anybody.

New Lightstreamer Version Released Today

A new version of the Lightstreamer software suite has been released.
Below is a summary of the main changes. The detailed change log is available.

Shareprice Android Application Available

After the iPhone application, Shareprice has released another version for Google Android.

The new application is available in the Android Market for users of the T-Mobile G1 phone.

It streams real-time tick-by-tick price movements from the London Stock Exchange, using Lightstreamer as the push engine.

Evaluation Licenses Extended to 60 Days!

Starting from now, the Evaluation licenses generated for Lightstreamer Allegro/Presto/Vivace will last 60 days, instead of 30. Even if we easily extended the 30-day license on request, we thought developers need more time by default to evaluate the product while probably working on many other parallel activities...

Shareprice iPhone Application Available

Shareprice has released on the UK iTunes app store the first approved native iPhone application to integrate with Lightstreamer in order to stream prices between the ‘market’ and the iPhone.

iStreamLight: Lightstreamer for the iPhone

Now it's official. There exists an open-source project that has released a native iPhone client library for Lightstreamer.

The project, created by Gianluca Bertani, is named iStreamLight and is hosted on Google Code. It is fully compatible with Cocoa Touch and the iPhone SDK 2.1 and requires Lightstreamer Presto or Vivace on the server side.
